Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) was established in 1980, as the dream child of an inspired group of eminent intellectuals and industrialists of Andhra Pradesh, India, led by popular parliamentarian Dr. M V V S Murthi, M.A., B.L., Ph. D. to set up a world class center of learning in technology, management and medicine in the picturesque port city of Vishakhapatnam. The renowned industrialist, conscientious parliamentarian and popular philanthropist Dr. Murthi has been guiding the destines of GITAM with missionary zeal, first as its Founder Secretary and now as its President.

FACTS
Celebrated Silver Jubilee in 2005. The institute has separate hostels for boys and girls. The institute established an indoor stadium in 2000 with financial aid from Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.

The library provides useful assistance to students with a vast collection of useful books, magazines and periodicals. The institute has an E-learning Research Center with 62 Dell systems and Internet connectivity through a 6mbps leased line to help students with their educational projects. The institute has an indoor stadium and track field with facilities for indoor games like basketball, shuttle badminton and volleyball.
